Course summary
The program focuses on professional studies across the full primary age range and provides a thorough understanding of the statutory curricula for primary schools. We are confident that our PDPA model of initial teacher education will help you develop into an inspirational professional teacher who will facilitate transition for the benefit of pupils, teachers and tutors in classes in Wales and beyond.
The Institute is an inquisitive, inquiry-driven education institution whose values are rooted in justice, equity, democracy, human rights, citizenship and encouraging ambitions for all. Our aim is to enable trainee teachers to become skilled graduates, creative and employable who will contribute to society and become responsible citizens of the world.
Through the Institute's Professional Learning Partnership (PDPA), we support over 600 prospective teachers on our Initial Teacher Education programs. These include primary undergraduate programs, and primary and secondary PGCE, all of which have Qualified Teacher Status. The BA Honors Primary Education with QTS is a highly respected full-time degree. It will be delivered on the Carmarthen campus; where tradition and the modern meet to form a unique learning environment.

Career Opportunities
More than 80% of our prospective teachers enter employment within the first year of graduation. Many work in the primary sector in England and Wales, some have permanent jobs, others choose to be supply teachers in the first place.
Other prospective teachers work abroad in a variety of schools, for example in Nigeria, Hong Kong, Australia and Kuala Lumpur, to gain valuable educational experiences before deciding where to live.
