Adult nurses assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate care supporting the patient's recovery or the ability to live as well as possible with their condition. On this Adult Nursing BN degree, theoretical modules provide you with the knowledge and clinical skills to undertake clinical placements in community and hospital settings, with experiences in a range of adult related areas. Career opportunities exist in areas including A&E, specialist medical and surgical areas, intensive care, palliative care and primary care settings.The one key word that could be used to describe the role of adult field registered nurses is diversity – registered nurses who hold adult field registration (and additional registerable qualifications, for example prescribing or teaching) care for the needs of people across the lifespan, including safeguarding the health of mother and baby. You’ll be able to experience that diversity during placements in clinical areas where adult nurses practice which might include:Acute sector general and specialist medical and surgical nursingCritical care nursing (intensive and high dependency care, emergency department, theatres and recovery)Community nursing in the home environment and primary care.Adult Nurses have the opportunity to develop their practice upon qualification. This can lead to careers such as Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Specialist Nursing, Consultant Nursing, Ward (ITU,CCU and HDU) as well as various Community specialisms, Practice Nursing and Research Nursing. The rapid pace of advances in medical and nursing care, treatment and technology is creating new career opportunities for nursing with rapid developments in different service provision and ways of working. The career opportunities and roles can range from very unique options from front line staff to working in a leadership position or specialised nurse or consultant nurse.They are many different types of nursing and varied opportunities for career advancement and work in a variety of settings. Nursing roles come in many forms and can progress in your career moving from a staff nurse to nurse specialist, ward manager, matron, leader, researcher, educator and nurse consultant. Nursing positions are split into different bands all of which have different salaries.
