Course summary

If you’re an advanced practitioner working in a health profession, or you are working towards advanced practice status in a role that involves high level decision-making and problem-solving, this course is for you.

The course has been developed in partnership with NHS colleagues, partners and professional bodies from across the health care sector. For example the Advanced Clinical Practitioner route offers selected modules which have been linked to the Department of Health (2010) competency statement and proficiencies, so you can be sure to receive learning that will benefit your service delivery and enhance the care you give to patients.

How you're assessed

You’ll be assessed in a variety of ways, which reflects the programme teams’ approach to assessment. Some modules will be assessed through traditional written coursework, Viva/OSCE, work based assessments, portfolio development, written and computerised exams and poster presentations (individual and group).

Careers

The courses have been developed to reflect the philosophies of Advanced Practice within the ethos of current health care provision in the UK; therefore your studies will be fit for purpose and informed by current standards.

You may wish to progress to a doctorate level of study, gain entry on to postgraduate medical programmes or become partners in GP practices. Many students go on to develop, specialise in, and lead the implementation of health care services including health care improvement, osteoporosis and falls services including fracture liaison or bone densitometry services and the variety of ultrasound provision. You will also gain PGCert and PGDip awards in this course.
