Course Details
All healthcare professionals require clinical examination skills to accurately assess patients of all ages and inform their healthcare journey. Caring for adults in community and primary care is influenced by multiple complex factors and demands skilled assessment and management. This stand-alone advanced professional development course offered by the University of Bolton will help develop your clinical examination skills in adults with acute and long-term conditions.
Our expert team will guide you through taking a history in a systematic and organised way so that you can distinguish normal from abnormal pathology, identify how acute the episode is, who to refer the case on to and assess the level of urgency. You'll learn how to identify red flags, make sense of your findings, and link them to specific disease processes to aid in the diagnosis of ill health.
We'll support you in developing advanced communication skills. You'll learn to assess a range of systems relevant to community and primary care nursing practice, including (but not limited to) the abdominal, respiratory, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal and integumentary systems. We'll also explore the national and local drivers of integrated working and managing individuals presenting with acute and long-term conditions in community and primary care settings.
