Course summary

This agriculture programme widens your knowledge of the agricultural industry, with a view to managing agricultural operations after graduation. The programme provides a thorough understanding of modern farming production systems and an in-depth knowledge of the underlying scientific and technological principles. You can focus on chosen subject areas, including the science and technology underpinning livestock and crop production and management. Additionally you will gain a comprehensive understanding of modern farming systems and the wider issues facing the agricultural industry, including the key areas of sustainable food production and the impact of climate change.The FdSc Agriculture is delivered using a combination of approaches to enable the acquisition of required academic knowledge. Practical farm management is also integral and the programme benefits from industry-wide support. The programme is assessed by a combination of coursework assignments, seminars, presentations, case studies, practicals, tests and examinations. Work-related learning is embedded throughout.

You will also have the opportunity for a Cornwall county farm mock viewing, with experience in preparing and submitting a business plan, receiving real industry feedback. -240 Ha of farmable land -260 cows -200 ewes -Arable crops: whole crop, wheat, maize, barley -Selection of machinery. Including a range of new John Deere tractors -Northwyke grass variety trials -Niab trials
