Course summary
Course Overview
This course teaches you the practical aspects of flying needed for a variety of air transport roles. Developed with industry professionals, it focuses on trends shaping the aviation industry today and in the future. You will have the chance to go on educational visits and carry out a work placement. You will also benefit from the University’s FNPT II Flight Simulator which you will use during the final year of your studies.
On this programme, you will gain the theoretical and practical pilot training knowledge to attain a Private Pilot's Licence (PPL). The PPL qualification allows you to continue your flying studies at a later date, to achieve a Frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). This programme attracts mature students and those currently employed within the industry, offering an opportunity to further their skills and knowledge in the aviation sector and the potential for career advancement.
What will this course cover?
During this course you'll acquire specialist knowledge in airline and airport operations, and have the chance to go on a number of educational visits both in the UK and overseas. We've developed this programme with industry professionals to focus on trends shaping the aviation industry today and in the future. You'll have the opportunity to go educational visits, and carry out a work placement within the aviation industry. You'll study modules in air cargo operations and ancillary revenue management, as well as aviation finance and economics.
As you develop a deep understanding of the air transport industry you'll finish the course well qualified to pursue a variety of different careers in this field. We'll give you the theoretical and practical pilot training knowledge to attain a Private Pilot's Licence (PPL). The PPL qualification allows you to continue your flying study at a later date, to achieve a Frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
What are my career prospects
When you graduate, you’ll be qualified for jobs in the travel and tourism industry with a range of organisations, particularly those in the civil aviation sector. Some of the larger airline and airport organisations offer a limited number of places on management trainee programmes, while others recruit directly for posts in marketing and operations.
