Course summary

This course explores the diverse histories of Classical Greece, Republican and Imperial Rome, Ancient Egypt, Late Antiquity and the Byzantine Empire. Gain analytical, practical and research skills, prepping yourself for an exciting career in sectors like cultural, heritage and museum organisations, education, media and more. Delve into primary sources that have survived to the modern day – you'll receive teaching and explore collections of artefacts in our on-campus Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology Museum. Diversify your understanding of Ancient History with optional modules in archaeology, ancient literature, heritage and digital humanities. Discover the ancient world on our Study Tour, where you will receive on-site teaching at archaeological locations such as the Athenian Acropolis. You will be assessed in a variety of ways to help you transition to a new style of learning. At the beginning of each module, you will be given information on how and when you will be assessed. Assessments methods will vary with each module and could include: coursework, such as essays group and individual presentations and class tests.
