Course summary
Ancient History explores and examines Greek and Roman civilisations, which may appear distant, but remain influential even today, and studying this four-year BA degree opens up a range of exciting career opportunities by helping you develop skills, which are highly valued by employers. The foundation year gives you an exciting introduction to higher education, exploring the humanities and social sciences before progressing to the full degree programme. It’s ideal if you need a little more support after further education or you are returning to education after a gap. You’ll have the chance to explore Greek and Roman history and society, architecture and archaeology, warfare and empire, gender, religion, politics and economics, and you can learn Greek or Latin language. With 94% of students in employment or further study within six months of graduating (Destinations of Leavers in Higher Education 2017), our Ancient History degree will put you in a great position to succeed in a variety of careers.Students on this course typically develop excellent oral and writing skills and you will also learn to develop your ideas in a wide range of formats, along with strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills. Our graduates enter careers in a wide range of sectors including: Heritage and Tourism, Teaching, Media and Public Relations, Business and Management and Politics and Civil Service.
