Course summary

This doctorate will enable you to become a registered educational psychologist in the UK. It is accredited by the BPS and approved by the HCPC.

About this course

Educational psychology is about the study and understanding of people's behaviour and the inter-relationship this has with organisational structures within educational and community settings.

The course will suit those with some understanding of educational systems and settings. You will learn how to support the social and educational development of children and young people aged 0-25 years. You will also learn how to work with other professionals, such as teachers.

The programme emphasises the need to apply psychology critically in order to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. We emphasise development as taking place within a social context and this influences the psychology we draw upon.

Educational Psychologists (EP) work with:

individual children
young people
parents
carers/teachers/other agencies

The work involves supporting individuals and working at the organisational level to facilitate the learning and wellbeing of children and young people. Along with all BPS accredited EP training programmes we draw upon a wide range of psychology.
