About This Course
Do you want the knowledge and research expertise to be at the forefront of Health Services Research in your field? The MSc in Applied Health Research aims to provide a robust programme that enables students with an interest in developing a specific knowledge base and skill set to develop their capability to complete health sciences research. It is focused on the needs of clinicians, clinical leaders and those wishing to develop a career in applied research and will equip students with the advanced skills needed to design, implement and evaluate healthcare research. It is underpinned by the highly-ranked research expertise in the Bangor Institute of Health and Medical Research.
It is focused on the requirements of clinicians, clinical leaders, health managers and those wishing to develop a career in applied researcher and will equip students with the advanced skills required to design, implement and evaluate healthcare research which could enhance their current role by a greater understanding and capability in applied research. The programme provides a grounding in an overview of research methodologies and approaches prior to an introduction to core subject areas, including health economics and basic trial design prior to greater focus on more advanced trial design. In this way, the programme seeks to provide well-rounded education and training in the applied field of research in health sciences.
Through innovative e-learning teaching methods, the student will be provided with interactive and integrated materials and support to advance their individual knowledge and skills whilst participating in a collective form of learning with action learning facilitated by tools such as Blogs and Discussion Boards. Within the programme subject-specialist from the respective research units within the School, including Health Economics and the Clinical Trials Unit., will be involved in the teaching.
The School of Healthcare Sciences is a well-known centre of excellence in postgraduate applied HSR education within the UK and has a distinctive range of expertise within the Bangor Institute of Health and Medical Research that will support students on the programme.
Careers
This course is intended to support the academic and career progression of professionals within the health services sector that are working in, or aspiring to, roles that utilise applied health services research. This maybe within UK or international health care organisations. Graduates will be well placed to take advantage of role developments in health care and health services research. The programme will enable the individual to develop graduate, lifelong learning skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and the use and of evidence based practice to enhance current professional and academic skills; this in turn will develop transferable skills which will enhance the employability of the registered professional overall.
