COURSE OVERVIEW

Applied mathematics is one of the most timeless and international disciplines in existence. Both ancient and modern, it is tightly bound with the economic foundations of the world today.

Contemporary science and business are underpinned by applied mathematics, and our degrees reflect a connection with industry.

This three-year BSc in Applied Mathematics allows you to investigate the number theory studied by Pythagoras and the financial mathematics depended on every day in Wall Street.

It covers a range of material including pure mathematics, applied mathematics and mathematics for finance. You can progress to focus on one aspect of the subject, or continue to cover a breadth of material.

Studying maths at Swansea University gives you access to world-leading teaching and cutting edge facilities.

As you progress, your developing mathematical abilities will combine with transferable skills which are vital to securing employment in the wider industry.

If you don’t have the necessary entry requirements to enter on to the first year of a degree, you may be offered a place on a degree course with an integrated foundation year.

YOUR APPLIED MATHEMATICS EXPERIENCE

You will study subjects reflecting our research expertise in areas such as nonlinear partial differential equations, noncommutative geometry and algebraic topology.

While attending our new £31 million world-class Computational Foundry, your studies will be undertaken through a combination of lectures, tutorials and seminars.

Our state-of-the-art teaching facilities include research and development laboratories, as well as networking and inspiration spaces.

You will learn to use logical reasoning and construct rigorous arguments alongside oral and written communication skills.

We will train you for a range of careers, provide a foundation for postgraduate study and research.
