Course summary

Why Applied Sport and Exercise Studies (Level 6)?

Our Applied Sport and Exercise Studies (Level 6) course enables you to top up your existing Level 5 qualification (such as a foundation degree or HND) to a full honours degree. Building on your existing knowledge, you’ll explore the impact of sport on people’s lives, on our communities and on wider society. Optional modules enable you to tailor your study to your own particular passions and career ambitions, as you examine the planning and delivery of sports programmes and initiatives. With opportunities to build relevant experience on placements, with organisations such as Sport England, Youth Sports Trust, the Football Association, Gloucestershire Sport, Physical Activity Trust, local authorities and schools, our graduates stand out from the competition. You’ll draw on the expertise of experienced lecturers and learn from professional practitioners - previous guest speakers have included David Palmer, GB coach for under-23s deaf football, and representatives of UK Coaching. You can also take advantage of brand new sports facilities at our Oxstalls campus, including an international-standard sports arena, 3G pitches, dedicated pitches for rugby, hockey and football and a cricket pavilion and pitch. This is in addition to our state-of-the-art sport and exercise science labs, fitness suites and strength and conditioning facilities.
