Applied Sports Performance BSc (Hons)

This programme is targetted at those students seeking a career working as a sport scientist in performance sport. The course addresses the core disciplines of physiology, nutrition, psychology, biomechanics, performance analysis and research methods applied to sport, integrated with the development of essential practitioner skills and competencies. During each year students will gain experience in sports performance settings to further develop their knowledge and delivery, as well as the opportunity to gain additional professional qualifications pertinent to the needs of both the student and applied sports sector.**Why study this course with us?**This course has been designed by highly qualified sport scientists with considerable applied experience and knowledge of working in performance sport. Staff retain strong links with a range of sports and are research active, with a focus on informing and enhancing practice. Modules are therefore delivered by experienced staff who are aware of the knowledge and skills required to work in performance sport and ensure that delivery is underpinned by practice-informed and research-informed teaching. Access to a range of sports ensures students are afforded appropriate opportunities throughout the course to engage with coaches, athletes and other practitioners in order to enhance their learning and gain appropriate experience. Continued development and tracking of fundamantal competencies throughout also ensures students are ready to meet the requirements of accrediting bodies on completion of the course.
