Course summary

Do you love the classics - the myths and legends - the art and architecture? Complement your passion for Ancient Greek and Roman history with archaeology. You can analyse and interpret material culture using skills from both disciplines.The course is structured flexibly, allowing you to progress from key skills, theories and methods, to topic specialisation. You may take:- a mix of Classical Civilisation and Archaeology modules- integrated Classical Civilisation and Archaeology modules- Ancient Greek and Latin modules at levels appropriate to your prior language learningYou will also do 10 days of archaeological fieldwork. You will participate in an approved excavation project, or a related placement, in the UK or overseas.As a joint honours student, you will benefit from skills development and assessment methods from both subjects. You may choose a uniting theme for your final year dissertation.No prior experience of archaeology or classical civilisations is required.
