Course summary

how human civilisations evolved, and why people and societies have changed over time. Through the latest techniques and technologies, you'll investigate how our ancestors lived, from the earliest human origins, to Neolithic Britain, and Ancient Egypt. With fieldwork and scientific analysis opportunities across the world, this course also represents a great opportunity to choose your own study path. You will learn about the many methods we use to find, excavate and investigate archaeological sites and materials. For example studying human and animal bones, scientific diving, physics and chemistry of archaeological material and maritime archaeology. The final year enables you to develop your interests in a specialist field, such as forensic or bioarchaeological studies, zooarchaeology, geophysical survey or underwater archaeology. Our digital humanities facilities will allow you to study and research through cutting-edge technology, such as virtual reality, 3D scanners and printers, and a 360 degree fully immersive audio-visual centre. These technologies will enable you to start making and exploring in new and immersive ways.
