**Course Overview**Are you interested in how buildings are designed? Our Architectural Design and Technology degree is an excellent choice for you. This course is designed to provide you with a sound knowledge of the architectural design process, and opportunity to acquire the necessary skills required to become a professional architectural technologist.Central to your learning will be the time you will spend in the design studio using industry-standard design suites to develop and apply your skills on building design projects. You will study a variety of subjects to become proficient in construction technology, materials, legislation and management.This undergraduate course focuses on practical, in-demand skills so that you can make sure that buildings function as they are intended to. You will develop the valuable ability to plan and design buildings that suit the needs of a client.By the time you complete the course, you will know how to design and detail many different kinds of buildings and communicate your designs effectively using the latest industry-standard software. All vital skills that will enable you to effectively investigate building problems and present appropriate design solutions.**Course Details**This course combines three distinct aspects of the buildings- architectural design, construction technology and management. These aspects are explored throughout the course by the themes such as digital technologies, sustainability, health and safety and building regulations.You’ll learn how to negotiate and manage the design process, whilst also understanding how to implement technical knowledge in developing practical and creative solutions, which meet existing working practices and legislation.Delivered through lectures, tutorials and studio-based work, each of the modules you study will help to build your identity as an architectural technologist. You will also work closely with other students across a range of disciplines allowing you to experience the professional structures you will be a part of in the workplace.You will also learn through:- Lectures, Seminar and Workshop- Guided research and reading- Laboratory experiments- Examination of projects, simulated or real- Analysis of work-based scenarios- Independent learning through individual learning plans- Tutored classroom sessions- Visiting speakers and guest lecturers- Fieldwork - visit study locations and meet professionals in the field who can inform your workThis course has been designed with inputs from industry practitioners and professional organisations to meet the requirements of the graduates in the field of Architectural Design and Technology.You will work on a series of live briefs for real clients in our well-equipped studios. Study and collaborate with students across a range of disciplines and build your professional portfolio with practical design projects.You’ll undertake model-making workshops and develop computer-aided design (CAD), data analysis and environmental modelling skills in our dedicated studios. This mix of traditional and highly creative learning environments will enable you to learn essential knowledge and real-world skills, standing you in good stead for your professional career.
