Course summary
Our undergraduate Art History programmes allow students to study art from China to the Americas across the ages. Studying Art History will increase your understanding of both ancient and modern society and culture, which in turn brings fulfilment and challenge. Our central London location offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the visual arts, as the College is surrounded by a plethora of world-renowned art institutions, collections and museums in the heart of the city that is the birthplace of many art movements and prolific artists. The Art History with Creative Writing BA will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression and hone your writing skills. Survey courses are combined with more media-specific subjects, such as architecture, landscapes and painting. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the production and reception of art across a wide geographical and chronological span, and interpret moments of history as manifested in works of art from antiquity to the contemporary, originating from a number of diverse cultures. You will look at traditional areas such as Italian Renaissance sculpture, French Modernist paintings and Western architecture after 1851; and it will engage in-depth with Byzantine, Islamic and North American Culture. Through your Creative Writing minor, you’ll develop the tools to approach a broad range of literary forms from a creative and critical perspective, from short fiction to immersive journalism, poetry, and scriptwriting.More information about the course can be found at https://www.nchlondon.ac.uk/degrees/undergraduate/art-history/art-history-with-creative-writing-ba/
