Course summary
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the construction of artificial systems that have intelligent behaviour. There are two main motivations for research. One is to understand natural intelligence through the use of computer models. The other provides techniques and technology for building systems capable of intelligent decisions and actions. So AI is both a science and an engineering discipline. Applications of AI range from 'smart' controllers for household devices to computers with the ability to converse in English, play games, conduct intelligent web searches or act as the brain of a robot. We offer a wide range of AI courses delivered by leaders in their field. You will have the flexibility to focus on the areas of artificial intelligence that interest you most.
Only apply to one Informatics programmeWe usually consider a maximum of two applications to programmes in the College of Science and Engineering as this helps ensure we make offers to as many students as possible. However, if you are applying for an Informatics programme, due to high demand, we can only accept one application for a programme in this subject area. You can use your second application for any other Science and Engineering programme.
