Course summary
Astronomy, space science and astrophysics allow us to see the Universe and our place in it. At Kent you will you will learn from academics making the discoveries that shape our world and play a part in this research yourself. **Upon graduation you will have acquired the practical experience, scientific knowledge and transferable skills to pursue a career in a range of fields including aeronautics, space, finance and manufacturing.**Choose Astronomy, Space Science and Astrophysics at Kent because:* our new curriculum is based on research and the demands of industry, ensuring your course is innovative and up-to-date.* you receive extensive practical training in our industry standard laboratories as well as the opportunity to complete an exciting research project which teaches you a range of transferable skills* you will have access to our fantastic Beacon Observatory, which has recently been refurbished to include a brand new robotic telescope.* your lecturers are active researchers and innovative teachers, so you are taught the most up-to-date science in a stimulating and supportive environment * We have a strong focus on your future career and how to get you there and ensure that you see how the science you learn in the lab can be applied to the real world as well as gaining valuable transferable skills Our four year undergraduate Masters degree will give you a valuable postgraduate qualification which can help to give you the edge in the job market. In your fourth year you will dive deeper into the subject by working on a research project in an area of your choosing, enhancing your skills and knowledge. This degree programme introduces you to a range of introductory modules such as astronomy and special relativity, computing skills, mathematics and mechanics, before progressing to more specialist topics including the multiwavelength universe and exoplanets, spacecraft design and operations, quantum physics and stars, galaxies and cosmology.
