This degree covers all major disciplines in automation and control, providing core knowledge and understanding of control system design and automation systems. You will develop critical thinking and gain an appreciation of real-life problems in an area of industry where skills are in great demand.

You will:

  • develop an in depth understanding of system analysis and controller design using state space techniques with Matlab applications
  • gain design skills through an understanding of fundamentals and modern methods in digital control systems
  • develop the ability to analyse and design control systems for industrial applications
  • gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in industrial automation technology, including; industrial robotics, servomechanisms, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and distributed control systems
  • apply multi-disciplinary skills and expertise in engineering and computing to investigate a complex problem through analysis, design and development of an original system or device
