Course summary

Our Bible and Theology degree explores the spiritual and written traditions of Judaism and Christianity. It offers students the chance to learn about the histories of the Christian and Jewish faiths and to explore their inner logics by studying sacred texts.

Modules within the programme examine different ways of imagining the world within Judeo Christian traditions, and focus on the teachings and practices of different denominations. In doing so, the programme looks to situate Judaism and Christian traditions within contemporary social, political and spiritual debates.

Studying the programme will provide you with a range of methodological and analytical frameworks for the study of the Bible and theology. It will enable you to engage critically and analytically with a range of biblical texts. You will become familiar with academic discussion and debate on the study of key themes arising from contemporary theology.

Research interests of staff will be used to inform and enhance your learning experience. Students on this course are encouraged to become independent-minded, self-reflective and creative individuals.
