Course summary
**Why study this course?**Our Biological Science (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) degree is designed to give you the opportunity to enter higher education if you can’t meet the requirements or don’t hold traditional qualifications required to enter a three-year undergraduate degree. This four-year course has a built-in foundation year (Year 0) to help you improve your study skills and provide you with the fundamental scientific knowledge you’ll need to enter an undergraduate degree in human sciences. You’ll graduate with the same degree title and award as students on the traditional three-year route.**More about this course**Our Biological Science (including foundation year) BSc (Hons) degree will equip you with intricate skills necessary to interpret and analyse biological data.Throughout your four-year degree you’ll receive exceptional support from experienced staff including your lecturers, mentors and careers services. Most of your teaching will take place in our £30 million Science Centre, where you’ll have access to workstations and tools that mimic a real scientific environment.Your foundation year will be shared with students from other disciplines, which will provide the perfect opportunity to learn more about other areas of human sciences and allow you to consider different perspectives. The focus of this year will be on developing your study skills in the context of biochemistry, biology, chemistry and generic scientific studies.During your subsequent three years of study you’ll be joined by students from the Biological Studies BSc (Hons) course, and you’ll study the same content with the same choice of modules. If you find that you’d like to change the specialism of your study, there will be flexibility to allow you to do this.
