Genetics is the study of biological variation and its inheritance. Exploring the fundamental control mechanisms of living systems, genetics is a field that underlies many modern biological research areas. It has an impact on almost every aspect of our lives including: human genetics and health infectious disease what we eat and drink how we liveGenetics is also involved in controversial areas, such as the use of genetically engineered crops and the ethical issues around human therapeutic cloning.As a genetics student, as well as understanding the basic science, you will be encouraged to consider how these issues impact on society.
