From 2nd for student satisfaction in the Complete University Guide 2025, to 5th for teaching quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025, to 11th for graduate careers in the Guardian University Guide 2025.After Year 1 you can maintain a broad interest in Biology or specialise. You can also choose to switch degree entirely to our BSc Zoology or BSc Wildlife Conservation Biology courses if you wish.If you’re interested in field research, you’ll progress from UK training in Year 1 to overseas research and placements in South Africa, Costa Rica, or Switzerland. You can also spend a semester abroad in Year 2 at partner universities in Canada, the USA, or New Zealand.Back in the lab, we’ll prepare you for a future in industry or the health service in our leading-edge facilities set in the heart of our historic campus.With small classes and a focus on practical and field learning, you’ll be assessed entirely through coursework to reflect the skills valued by employers and postgraduate study.
