Course summary

In a dynamic and interconnected global economy, the role of management has never been more important.

We’ll equip you to be a holistic, resourceful, innovative and reflective practitioner of management, able to independently identify and develop your own specialisms. You’ll be numerically and digitally literate, robust and ethically sound, sensitive to diversity and fully adaptable: a decision-maker able to cope with the demands of the 21st century workplace.

You'll gain an understanding of cutting-edge management theory and develop deeper insight by putting your learning into practice during your year in industry. With a more flexible structure than the equivalent BSc, you can choose from a wide range of specialised modules to meet your interests.

In your third year, you'll undertake a 12-month paid placement in industry. You'll develop your understanding of business and management; apply the theories you've learned and enhance your employability.

Assessment

You will be assessed using a mixture of essays, projects and examinations. For some modules you'll produce reports, strategy documents or group presentations.

Careers and skills

Our bespoke employability sessions help you identify and improve your skills. Our dedicated support team will help you to build an employability portfolio and to present yourself at your best for the next step of your career.

Our graduates go on to careers in all aspects of business and management. Many progress to postgraduate degrees at York and other leading universities.
