Course summary
OVERVIEW
Why choose this course
Our BSc (Hons) Business Economics course combines a broad basis of economics with a specific focus on how businesses operate, and how managers make decisions.
While mathematical techniques remain important, as a business economics student you will usually study less mathematical and econometric intensive modules compared to our other economics courses.
Our teaching is at the forefront of the field and is influenced by real industry insights. All academics within our School of Economics are research-active and some are advisers to world-renowned organisations.
What you will study
Our BSc (Hons) Business Economics course will help you to develop skills that are highly sought after in today’s challenging economic environment.
You’ll gain the tools needed to analyse a wide range of business scenarios and solve increasingly complex problems. You’ll learn how businesses interact, their role within the economy, and the strategic decisions that managers take.
Careers and graduate prospects
We offer careers information, advice and guidance to all students whilst studying with us, which is extended to our alumni for three years after leaving the University.
Economic decisions are at the heart of every society, shaping the future of individuals, organisations, regions and nations. This hints at the variety of careers available to economists and the range of skills you can expect to develop by studying one of our courses.
Assessment
We assess modules individually and award credits for the successful completion of each one. Assessment takes place through a combination of examination and/or coursework, practical examinations and reports. Check individual module information to see full details at a module level.
Foundation
If you don’t meet our entry requirements, you might still be able to apply for this course with a foundation year. A course with a foundation year includes an extra year of study to prepare you for a full degree course.
Placements
You have the option to complete a Professional Training placement as part of this course. This will give you the opportunity to develop your professional, academic and personal potential, helping to prepare you for your future career.
