You’ll study your Business Economics degree at our world-renowned Leeds University Business School, home to the Applied Institute for Research in Economics.This flexible course focuses on the economics of the firm with less emphasis on mathematical aspects than other economics courses offered at Leeds.Through compulsory modules, you’ll explore the core concepts, practices and techniques in business economics. You will gain analytical, quantitative, computing, presentation and other transferable skills, preparing you for a variety of exciting careers in the private and public sector.In a challenging and supportive environment, you'll develop an in-depth understanding of the nature and methods of economic analysis, allowing you to gain insight into the factors that influence individual behaviour, firm strategy and interactions, the wider economic environment together with policy options and dilemmas.A range of optional economics modules will provide you with the opportunity to explore specialist areas such as project appraisal, behavioural economics, environmental economics, macroeconomic policy, international trade, and health.Shape your learning with pathwaysThis course offers pathways from year 2, which allow you to tailor your course to your specific interests or professional aspirations. The pathways provide modules that can be taken in particular areas and can be followed through to your final year. Develop practical data analysis skills that graduate employers look for, using data and software to understand and solve real-world economic problems. Regular opportunities to network with guest speakers from industry and politics at our ‘Meet with the Economists’ series, featuring debates, discussions and presentations. This is a great way to develop your professional communication skills and gain insights for your future career. Develop important research and analytical skills and apply these in your final year to a year-long project on a topic of your choice. For example, you may decide to investigate a particular area of economic development or conduct your own research into the impacts of social and environmental factors on the economy.
