Course summary

Employers want graduates who are not just academically qualified, but also work-ready with professional skills in enterprise, problem-solving, critical thinking and analysis. Underpinned by international business practice, this course aims to provide you with the breadth and depth of practical skills, knowledge and expertise to become a confident and successful business manager, capable of providing a competitive edge in the global corporate environment. Your advanced studies of management theory, in areas such as project management, applied marketing, logistics and supply chain, will be repeatedly reinforced with real-life practical and responsible application – through case studies, work placements, field trips and industry-sponsored projects. Each module adheres to the Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME), promoting personal and professional ethical behaviour by presenting a range of ethical dilemmas designed to expose you to professional codes of conduct. You will also be given the opportunity to choose continuing professional development (CPD) workshops in personal understanding, business awareness and core business skills to help ensure you are workplace ready on graduation. In Year Three, you will have the opportunity to undertake an optional 12-month work placement, in the UK or overseas. Our Business Futures team, based within the Faculty, will offer support in helping you secure a placement, although all placements are subject to availability and a competitive application process. Past placements secured by students have included with firms such as Airbus, Marks & Spencer, Microsoft, L‘Oreal and IBM. As well as our focus on corporate engagement and responsible management, you will discover an international theme running throughout your studies, with many modules applying business management principles in a globa context. This focus is further supported by the diversity of our students and staff, who come from a wide variety of different countries, sharing their experience of cultural and organisational differences from around the world – which can often make or break a business opportunity. You can also gain valuable international business experience by attending an international field trip (subject to availability, fees may apply). **Key Course Benefits*** International field trips to over 20 different countries.* Staff have experience of senior management and consultancy, working for the likes of PwC, Barclays and the NHS.* Active members of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS), as well as being signatories to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (UN PRME) initiative.* Opportunity to gain business skills by learning in our Business Simulation Suite, which uses life-like simulated business environments to help you gain relevant experience.* The full time study option of this course is one of only 111 EPAS accredited programmes worldwide, recognising the course’s focus on employability and professional development.* Opportunity, in your second year, to study for a semester at one of our partner institutions, including Toulouse Business School and Deakin University in Australia (places are limited and subject to availability and a selection process).
