Course summary

Dog training is a rapidly growing industry, both the training of canine pets and for competition. Now is an exciting time to pursue a related career. Make the most of our canine expertise and facilities to immerse yourself in dog training, performance and rehabilitation.You’ll get to grips with advances within the field, as you investigate the effectiveness of different training methods for different purposes. You’ll explore the complex human-canine bond in pet and therapeutic settings; training for husbandry and enrichment purposes; and rehabilitating dogs for optimum physical health and wellbeing, learning in our commercial Canine Therapy Centre on campus. As part of the competitive performance stream, you’ll examine coaching for optimal performance of canine athletes. This includes dogs for the biomechanical, psychological and physiological demands of a competitive environment. Our dog agility specialism will enable you to get involved with agility training in our arenas, and you could help to deliver our annual UKA Dog Agility competition each year.We have excellent industry connections with dog trainers, behaviourists, scientists and athletes across the UK.
