The HNC in Childhood Practice is a widely recognised qualification giving sound underpinning knowledge and understanding of how children develop and interact with their world.

This course also includes a minimum 60-day work placement requirement where you will have the opportunity for work experience with local organisations within Dumfries and Galloway. You will undertake 3 Scottish Vocational Qualification units (SVQs) that form part of the overall HNC Award.

The course may enable progression to the second year entry of the BA in Childhood Studies degree at the University of the West of Scotland.

This course may enable progression to year 1 of the MA (Hons) Primary Education with Teaching Qualification at University of Glasgow as long as the additional entry criteria are met along with a HNC graded unit B pass.

Applicants are advised to check the entry criteria with the university of their choice. This qualification is necessary for registration with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) at the Practitioner level.
