Course summary
The interrelated disciplines of Childhood Studies with Applied Psychology provide excellent preparation for working with children, young people and families. This multidisciplinary course aims not only to develop your knowledge and understanding, but also to ensure that you develop the skills, attitudes and confidence to support, educate, nurture, and advocate for children, young people and families in your work.Childhood Studies considers how children from birth to 18 years of age are viewed, and the factors that influence how they develop, learn and grow. Through studying Applied Psychology you gain an in-depth understanding of the applications of psychology within education, as well as the influence of diversity upon development, learning and behaviour. This course is unique in that it primarily focuses on Childhood Studies with interlinked modules in Applied Psychology. Theory and practice are actively applied and brought together through tailored placement opportunities and community projects that will widen your experience and skill set, and support career choice and progression. External and internal professionals will contribute to your course, widening your understanding of the influence different professionals can have on children and families, and research projects will allow you to follow your own lines of interest and enquiry
