Course summary

The innovators of the 21st century will bring together arts, science, engineering, humanities and enterprise to deliver innovative products, services and ways of living. They will be team players with skills and qualities that enable them to work across specialisms and cultures.This course combines subject specialism in childhood studies with interdisciplinary breadth, creative teamwork and entrepreneurial skills. Alongside your in-depth education in childhood studies you will apply your subject knowledge by translating ideas into plans for digital and creative enterprises, both social and commercial.Childhood studies at Bristol provides you with a holistic understanding of children, childhood and adolescence, combining elements of education, psychology, law, social work and social policy. You will consider childhood in the contexts of families, peers and society at both a national and international level. Topics of study include children’s rights, development, education, therapeutic work with children, safeguarding and mental health, among others.You will come together with students from other innovation disciplines, such as computer science and geography, to learn and apply design and systems thinking to digital and creative ideas.
