**Course Overview**- Our Children, Schools and Families (Top-Up) course builds on your existing experience in child-based education to help you develop a career working with children, young people and the services that support them.- This course draws on subject areas including education, sociology, psychology, social policy and social work to give you a solid grounding in your career.- You’ll complete compulsory modules which examine multi-professional and international perspectives on children’s lives, examining the services, systems, policies and work practices that relate to children and young people in schools, with families and in care settings.- You’ll also complete a work placement as part of your degree. This involves taught sessions which allow you to get a better understanding of how policy translates into practice and how you can make a positive difference to people’s lives.**Why study with us**- A great opportunity to top-up your foundation degree to get a full honours degree in Children, Schools and Families.- Our Social Work provision is ranked 4th in the UK and 2nd in England in the Guardian League Table 2021.- Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Children, Schools and Families (Top Up) is ranked 2nd in the UK with 85% of students satisfied with the quality of feedback and assessment (Guardian University Guide 2021).**Further Information**Children, Schools and Families course if you meet one of these requirements:- Applicants who hold a University of Central Lancashire Foundation Degree in Children, Young People and their Services will be admitted with advanced standing up to 240 credits (directly into Year 3)- Applicants who hold a Foundation Degree in a relevant discipline awarded by other higher education institutions will be considered positively- We also give consideration to non-traditional qualifications and relevant work experience. We encourage applicants to produce evidence of their potential to benefit from the course.- If you believe you may be eligible for Accreditation of Prior Certificated and/or Experiential Learning (APCL/APEL) for certain modules then we’ll take this into consideration on an individual basis.- On this course you’ll benefit from our Centre for Volunteering and Community Leadership (CVCL) which enables you to get involved in projects which make a positive difference to people’s lives. They offer a range of volunteering projects in the UK and Internationally so you’re bound to find something that inspires you.

GCSE/National 4/National 5 : C
Students need atleast five passes at grade C or above, Grade 4 if their GCSE is attained after 2017. Most of our courses require a pass in GCSE Maths and English.
