In order to meet all of the requirements to register as a paediatric nurse, you will need to fulfil a set number of compulsory hours of study. This course has been specially designed to provide you with the opportunity to fulfil the requisite 4,600 hours in three years. 50% of your course will be situated in the University and 50% in a variety of practice areas.

Some academic modules will be core modules which will mean all students will study together, and some are field-specific, and relate entirely to children and young people's nursing. In practice, students attend a wide range of placements which enable them to care for children and young people with different conditions. At the end of the third year you may opt to undertake a placement overseas. The modules will contain a range of key skills which are essential for successful lifelong learning in healthcare, including communication, information computing technology, application of number, working with others, problem solving and how to improve your learning. With a variety of teaching and learning approaches available, this course will help you to develop the skills required to work within, and respond to the healthcare needs of children & young people in a variety of settings.
