Classical and Middle East Studies MA (Hons)

On MA Classical and Middle East Studies, a distinctive joint programme between Classics and Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Edinburgh, you will develop a knowledge and understanding of the history, literature, and culture of Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East. The focus within classics is on historical study of ancient Greek and Roman civilisations, while also enabling archaeological and literary topics. On the Middle Eastern side of the programme, options span the history and culture of the region, from the beginnings of Islam to the present day. This distinctive programme will offer society intellectually-trained individuals who are capable of interpreting and problematising the shared heritage of both the classical world and the Middle East (and thus also of the west and Islam).
