Clinical Exercise Science (with Foundation Year) BSc (Hons)

This is an innovative course designed to meet the needs of students who are interested in improving health, increasing psychical activity and encouraging healthy lifestyles for a variety of individuals in the general population. National governing bodies and organisations such as Sport England and UK Active alongside the UK government have expressed a need for this type of physical activity and health experts. Graduates from the course will be qualified to provide exercise prescription, health advice and physical activity promotion to individuals who need it the most in the community. It will provide students with the practical and theoretical skills necessary to be a health and exercise practitioner.The course is designed to create an exciting opportunity for you to gain an understanding of Health and Exercise Science, while developing your experience within community projects associated with physical activity and health. This will be achieved through studying nutrition, physiology and psychology, before specific units covering advanced applied exercise principles and practice, testing and exercise for clinical populations, community programme project and physical activity for obesity and diabetes.The special feature of this course is that is had embedded within it the necessary foundation knowledge, skills and application for the professional accreditation with a number of bodies, including the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and Chartered Institute of Management for Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) qualifications. This will give you licence to work as an exercise practitioner within the exercise industry, whilst also learning the skills required to be a Health and Exercise Specialist.
