Course summary

Our programme equips health and social care practitioners with the skills to design and lead high quality clinical research. This is the only course of its kind on the UK North West Coast, and the only campus based programme in the North West of England.

Our networking links include: undertaking collaborative research projects, editorial work on international journals, social media networking and lobbying for changes in policy. We’ll share these links and support you in developing your own networks.

You’ll undertake a dissertation module and one option for this is the production of an application for a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Doctoral Research Fellowship. By choosing this option, you’ll have a ready-made application to progress to the next stage of the ICA programme career pathway.

Why study with us

  • You’ll be taught by a team of internationally renowned researchers with over 15 years’ experience of successful research delivery.
  • Join a vibrant community of clinicians at different stages on their NIHR funded clinical academic pathway – including interns, doctoral and postdoctoral students and career development fellows.
  • You’ll learn through sharing and critically reflecting on examples from ongoing real-world research in the School. This will be a direct call to action for the reader and direct them a relevant action – such as applying, booking for an open day etc.
