Course summary
The Computer Games (Concept Art) prepares you for employment within the games and arts industries. You will specialise within the field of games concept art, learning how to critically analyse and develop detailed worlds, stories and characters for use in an interactive graphical format. This course covers areas such as the following:- Character design.- Environment design.- Comic art.- Storyboarding.- Creature design.- Key art.- Thumbnails.- Weapons.- Props.On this course you will design and develop interactive and visually stunning projects that allow you to fully explore your creative skillset. The major project module will enable you to pursue your specialism within concept art by focusing on a large-scale practical project while adding to existing research in the field of concept art. Additionally, you will explore and analyse issues within the industry and contextualise these to try and create solutions. To reflect industry practice, we promote the use of agile workflows and promote events such as Game Jams and Game Societies. We focus on employability, so work is tailored to match and meet industry standards while adopting industry workflows. We emphasise personal development, encouraging you to work with industry standard software and tools to create artwork.

GCSE/National 4/National 5 :
Entry requirements for this course include a 50% average at foundation degree level or an overall 50% on a relevant HND. Additionally, for literacy levels a GCSE grade 4 or above in English is desirable or equivalent qualifications. For numeracy levels, a GCSE grade 4 or above in maths is desirable or equivalent qualifications.
