Course summary

This one-year course is designed to improve your general skills in computing, mathematics and information technology. Successful completion allows you to progress onto one of our degree courses in computing or mathematics, subject to meeting specific course entry requirements. This course will provide you with: the mathematical skills you need for the first year of a computer-related degree; the study skills you need for a degree-level course ; an understanding of the basic operation of a computer, including programming concepts ; a range of transferable skills in self-management, learning skills, communication, problem solving, teamwork and information technology. You can progress to complete your qualification to a full Honours degree in a Computer subject or move into a computing related career such as: Software Developer; I.T. Technician; Network Administrator; Web Developer and Database Administrator. There is high demand for graduates in all areas of computing and information technology - this course is an excellent start to a career in this fast moving and expanding industry. On successfully completing the course you will transfer onto one of the Oxford Brookes computing-related degree courses.
