Course summary
**This range of exciting new HNC courses is designed to equip students with construction and the built environment skills, knowledge and the understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the global construction and the built environment sector. There are four specialist pathways in Construction, Building Services Engineering, Civil Engineering and Surveying.****About the course**There is a strong emphasis on employability skills and the knowledge essential for students with entrepreneurial, employment or academic aspirations. Programme content is designed to be appropriate for entry to or progression within the construction sector and to enable students to progress onto higher-level study.**HNC core modules include:**- Individual Project (Pearson Set)- Construction Technology - Science & Materials - Construction Practice and Management**Building Services Engineering specialist mandatory units:**- Mathematics for Construction - Principles of Heating Services Design & Installation - Principles of Ventilation & Air Conditioning Design & Installation**Specialist optional units:**- select one or two units to make up to 120 credits of study**Assessment**Assessment is continuous, providing a range of evidence of your learning. This may include: essays and reports, individual and group presentations, research and analytical projects, oral and practical assessments. **Bursaries**We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Details for 2021-22 will be advertised once approved by the university regulator – the Office for Students (OfS). Please check our website - www.nottinghamcollege.ac.uk - for more information.**Qualification awarded:**Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Construction and The Built Environment (Building Services Engineering) - awarded by Edexcel.**Possible careers and progression**From the HNC, students can progress to the Level 5 Higher National Diploma, and then on to the second or third year of an Honours degree in a construction-related discipline (such as a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering or similar). Recent graduates have gone on to seek work in construction and project management, quantity surveying, building surveying, site engineering and architectural technology.
