They also enable you to become involved with the construction community through networking and placement opportunities (subject to availability and application), which can enhance your employment prospects on graduation. You will be taught by staff with academic and professional experience in architectural practice, civil engineering and the construction industry, having worked in roles as construction and project managers, quantity Surveyors and design managers for a variety of both contracting and consultant organisations. We also have a strong portfolio of industry-related research, particularly in the areas of low carbon building technology, sustainable construction materials and engineering education, which ensures you stay abreast of new technologies and emerging issues.Teaching is highly practical; throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to draw on real-life case studies to reinforce teaching, including the use of site visits. You also have a unique opportunity to undertake teaching in the Simulation Centre and participate in integrated project work, where theory is put into practice as soon as it is learned.**Key Course Benefits*** Home to the Coventry University Simulation Centre.* Ranked 7th in the UK for ‘Building’ by the Guardian University Guide 2019.* Opportunity to apply for a full year work placement which can count towards your professional Chartered status.* Expert visiting lecturer programme, which in the past has featured lecturers from industry, research organisations and from overseas universities, such as Purdue University in the USA.* Full accreditation from Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), setting you on the path to becoming a chartered builder or chartered construction manager and leading to full membership of the Institute.* Successful completion of a common first year makes it possible to transfer to Architectural Technology, Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management in the second year if you wish.* Collaborative links with universities in 20 countries around the world, including Purdue University in the USA, giving you the chance for you to spend part of your studies abroad (additional costs may apply).
