This integrated foundation year will enable you to transition onto our BSc (Hons) Counselling & Mental Health course. It will also help you prepare for academic life at universityAs part of your foundation year, you’ll:• Study health and community studies-related modules that will give you a broad understanding of the multi-disciplinary health and social care sector• Study additional modules that will help you develop the academic and study skills you’ll need to successfully transition from school, college or the workplace into higher educationAs part of your course, you’ll:• Explore a wide range of theories within psychology, mental health, counselling, child development and psychotherapy• Combine theoretical knowledge with opportunities to gain experience in mental health environments and develop your ability to build effective helping/supportive relationships• Study a variety of therapeutic approaches You'll discover how to access the extensive learning resources and support services available here at Leeds Beckett, whether you need a hand locating specialist materials in the Library, IT support or advice about personal issues.Studying on our health and community studies courses will prepare you for a wide range of careers.
