If you have high emotional intelligence, and are good at understanding and relating to people, this course will help you to become effective and skilled in supporting others with achieving their aims and objectives, while developing yourself. On our course you'll gain a solid grounding in a variety of helping approaches and techniques, so that you can build effective relationships with others in areas such as the voluntary sector, human resources, social care, health and education. In the current climate, demand for these skills in all sectors is increasing as awareness and attitudes to inclusion and mental health needs across the population change.Once you have completed your degree, a wealth of career opportunities in everything from HR to social care await you. If you want to pursue a professional career in counselling and qualify as an accredited counsellor, you’ll need to undertake the relevant accredited training.
Top reasons to study with us- You’ll be taught by passionate and experienced tutors supported by a wide range of guest speakers, such as psychotherapists, business coaches, careers consultants and art therapists.- You'll have opportunities to gain experience, for example, through volunteering with organisations in the charitable and third sector, and the peer mentoring and peer assisted learning programmes that are available across the University.
