Course summary

This is a two-year course and is designed to meet the evolving markets and increasing uptake of the listening therapies across a breadth of employment areas. As well as areas typically anticipated within the province of Health and Social Care, the programme may interest those within management and human resources. In essence the programme provides the opportunity for individuals from a wide range of background to develop their counselling knowledge and skills to establish the basic foundations for entering the counselling profession or to augment their existing professional practice. It leads to a professional counselling qualification and can be included towards BACP Accreditation.

GCSE/National 4/National 5 :

Students must have completed a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling to apply. You will also need to supply the names of two referees, one from an academic source. Every applicant is invited to an interview to assess their suitability for the course. At interview you will need to declare and discuss previous convictions, reprimands, cautions or final warnings. A satisfactory DBS will need to be obtained to enable you to undertake your placement, which is a requirement of the course. Entry requirements include passes at GCS
