Course summary
This Joint Honours degree provides you with exciting opportunities to combine very different types of learning. You'll learn through the academic investigation of the processes by which we understand historical events and a ‘practice-based’ enquiry into writing. Creative Writing aims to nurture your confidence as a writer and to support your development as a critical and skilful analyst of writing. You'll also develop your commercial practice (writing for magazines, reviewing, scriptwriting, editing) and understanding of the publishing industry.Studying History at Worcester allows you to learn history as it is being written, contributing to research. You'll also get work placement opportunities in archives, museums and community groups, which will allow you to understand the relevance of history to modern life. You'll study a wide range of modules in British, European and World History from the 16th to 20th centuries. In combination, Creative Writing and History will be an interesting prospect if writing is your obsession and if aspects of history and the lives and events of other times are what excite your curiosity.
