Why Crime and Criminal Investigation?

Are you interested in a career in preventing and detecting crime? Do you want to build the skills required to carry out effective investigations to support victims by solving crime within law enforcement agencies, public organisations or private business? Our degree in Crime and Criminal Investigation combines the key elements of theory, policy, and practice in the fields of policing, criminology, and criminal justice. In this program, you will study crime and criminal investigations, focusing on the investigative process. You will develop a strong understanding of the Criminal Justice System and the role of investigators within this, while also exploring the current challenges faced by law enforcement and investigators.You will benefit from the insights of academics with extensive experience in policing organisations. They will guide you through topics such as identifying and securing evidence, interviewing techniques, and victim support, and the relevance of these all aspects of policing and investigation work.Throughout the course, you will engage with a variety of case studies and hands on practical scenarios. You will examine historical, empirical, and theoretical perspectives on key issues related to evidence gathering and criminal justice.By the end of the program and with our support, you will be a well-rounded and confident graduate with the investigative mindset and knowledge needed for a successful career in policing or investigation.
