We offer a blend of critical social science and socio-legal perspectives designed to help you develop diverse academic skills. You’ll study theories and methods drawn from sociology, law, psychology, philosophy, history and cultural studies. You’ll learn from research-active lecturers. Our faculty shape scholarly and policy debates in their specialist fields. Their research interests include: penology terrorism neurocriminology historical and cultural criminology existentialism. You’ll take one core module taught by the Criminology Department, and one core module taught by the Law School. You’ll then be able to tailor your options according to your interests. Modules are available from the Criminology Department and Law School as well as options in Sociology and Gender Studies. Your Criminology Dissertation will allow you to express the theoretical and methodological skills you have gained across the MA through your own independent research project.
