It combines politics, law, psychology, society and culture, and seeks answers to a wide range of questions.Why do certain people commit crimes? How does our criminal justice system work? Why do some people abuse others? How do victims of abuse cope? Why are people from some backgrounds reportedly more likely to commit crimes and become victims? How can we improve relations between young people and the police?You’ll be introduced to a range of theoretical perspectives and debates that inform criminology, and the institutions, processes and legal foundations of the criminal justice system in England and Wales. You’ll be able to volunteer at organisations that work with offenders and victims of crime and be able to see the real-world relevance of your degree.
