Criminology/Politics BA (Hons)/BSc (Hons)

This is a joint honours course, where you study two subjects. Criminology analyses the nature, occurrence and explanations of crime, criminal behaviour and societal responses to these phenomena. On this course you will tackle some of the most fundamental questions behind what makes an act or action a crime and how responses to crime can be analysed from different perspectives and theoretical frameworks. You will also look at historical patterns of crime, how perspectives of crime have changed over time, and explore contemporary criminal justice and policy to crime, anti-social behaviour and disorder. The study of politics is the study of power. We start by examining the roots and nature of political activity set in the context of wider social activity. We also explores governments and types of governance, as well as the nature of power and rule under democratic and non-democratic regimes.
