At first you’ll work individually and then in small groups, culminating in a public performance.A key focus of this course is on the health and social aspects of dance and movement. You’ll consider the impact of disability, gender and society, looking at how dance can bring people together to promote inclusion. You’ll also explore different cultural perspectives of dance and movement, including the chance to apply eastern beliefs to your practice.Through optional modules you can study the structure and function of the human body, discover how people develop creatively and undertake your own research into dance and movement. In-depth knowledge, broad experienceYou’ll deepen your knowledge and experience of dance and movement, building your abilities in choreography and improvisation as the basis of studio practice. At first you’ll work individually and then in small groups, culminating in a public performance.A key focus of this course is on the health and social aspects of dance and movement. You’ll also explore different cultural perspectives of dance and movement, including the chance to apply eastern beliefs to your practice.**Strong professional links**Our flourishing partnership with Déda, the only dedicated dance house in the East Midlands, will open doors for you. It gives you the chance to engage with Déda’s exceptional programme of dance, contemporary circus and outdoor work. This could include opportunities to attend performances and technique classes and to take part in dance development projects which are helping Déda to strengthen its community profile and reach new audiences.Depending on the optional modules you choose, you could undertake a placement or internship. Our students have enjoyed vital work experience with cultural organisations such as Déda, with charities and with hospital arts co-ordinators. Some return to their former schools to harness dance and movement in ways which promote young people’s personal development.
